How do we change the world? (Dunedin Hui)
January 27 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
If we are to fight for a better society, we can’t afford to only look within our borders. Aotearoa has never been isolated – from Kupe’s first steps on these shores onwards, we have always understood ourselves as linked to distant whenua, be it Hawaiki or Ingarangi.
With the arrival of capitalism, we became entangled in systems of finance, exploitation and extraction that stretch across every country touched by colonialism. To untie these knots means creating links with people who share our experiences, or are subjected to much worse. Our fight is always an international one, shared by disenfranchised, displaced and destitute peoples everywhere.
Without losing sight of troubles at home, we should always be connecting with and learning from activists, theorists and agitators from abroad. Organise Aotearoa welcomes anyone to our hui – being held on both islands for the first time – to talk about struggles around the world, what we can learn from them, and what we can give in return.
This is an accessible and child friendly event. There will be food available and all are welcome. We will be opening up the floor to the community to share your insights on the international struggle for socialism and against all oppressive states.
Come along to the hui and share your ideas. Speakers TBC.
