March 16 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm
He aha te mea nui o te ao, maku e kii atu, he tangata, he tangata, he tangata!
Tihei Mauri Ora!
Nau mai, haere mai one and all to this wonderful celebration of the coming together of all people. Join us as we embrace who we are through the spectacular process of the Māori powhiri, within a rich and energetic multi cultural day of sharing.
If you have never had the opportunity to experience a powhiri at Arai te uru Marae, I would like to encourage you to come along and treat yourself to an enlightening and soul deepening event.
It’s times like these whereupon foundations of true friendship are made!
If this day and time does not suit you keep an ear and eye out for the future powhiri that we will host, and bring your whanau along too!
The hope is we can all get to know each other a little bit better 🙂
Gather in the Marae carpark at 10.30am ready for the powhiri at 11am.
Please wear tidy attire and bring a Koha (gift of reciprocation for the Marae)
A person from the Marae will come out to speak with all the visitors at around 10.45 to help prepare you for the process of the powhiri if you are unsure.
Please remember: TO TURN OFF YOUR CELLPHONE
Remove your shoes before entering the wharenui (unless you are a kaumatua (elder))
No food or drinks inside the wharenui
Please keep an eye on your children as there is a creek behind the pa harakeke (boundary flax bushes)
Most importantly come ready for a fantastic day!
