Responding to Mass Murder: Creative Non-violent Responses to Violent Extremism

April 16 @ 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm

The National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies invite you to their 10th Anniversary Lecture

Responding to Mass Murder: Creative Non-violent Responses to Violent Extremism

Speaker: Kevin P Clements

The shocking events of March 15th in Christchurch shook us as a nation and challenged many taken for granted assumptions about our common humanity, empathy, and cultural tolerance. It also surfaced traumatic memories from our colonial past and post-colonial present. This lecture focuses on the next steps as we grapple with the aftermath of the tragic events in Christchurch—the ways in which we might respond to mass murder, intolerance, and violent extremism of any kind with creativity, compassion and non-violence.
