The 4th Trimester: Supporting Postnatal Wellbeing – a FREE seminar
August 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The 4th Trimester seminar is a free event for parents and whānau organised by the Dunedin Breastfeeding Network.
During this seminar we will share tips and information about safe post natal exercise, good nutrition for new parents, and answer your questions about breastfeeding.
This event is in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2019. The theme this year is “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding – Now and for the future!”
This theme was chosen to be inclusive of all types of parents in today’s world. Focusing on supporting both parents to be empowered is vital in order to realise their breastfeeding goals.
Empowerment is a process that requires evidence-based unbiased information and support to create the enabling environment where mothers can breastfeed optimally. Breastfeeding is in the mother’s domain and when fathers, partners, families, workplaces, and communities support her, breastfeeding improves.
We can all support this process, as breastfeeding is a team effort. To enable breastfeeding we all need to protect, promote and support it.
